Local Agencies Offer Free Tax Help (Posted January 24, 2012)

WECU and Whatcom Asset Building Coalition have collaborated to create a pamphlet for the 2012 tax season.  The pamphlet highlights local free tax assistance opportunities for easy to moderate returns provided by AARP, WWU VITA, and the Opportunity Council.  The pamphlet also covers some other topics like high cost tax services and suggests other options for quick returns.  Please help us distribute to friends, family, co-workers or anyone else that may benefit. Electronic Tax Forms for E-Statement Users (Posted January 03, 2012)

Attention E-Statement users!

Your 2011 Tax 1099 and 1098 forms are now available electronically inside E-Max under the E-Statements heading! You will only receive a 1099-INT if you were paid $10 or more in interest on a savings account, US Savings Bond(s) or Treasury Obligation.  

To sign up for E-Statements:

Log in to E-Max.
Click the ‘E-Statements’ button.
Click ‘yes’ to accept the Terms and Conditions and ‘submit.’
Provide and verify a primary e-mail address (you will be sent an authorization code).
Click the ‘subscribe’ button.
Copy and paste the activation code that is sent to your email address into the next box, (do not log out of E-Max, just open email in another window).
Click the ‘activate my address’ button.
Click the ‘E-Statements’ link at the top of the page.
Click ‘agree’ and ‘submit.’
Click ‘ok’ twice.

Treasury to End Over the Counter Savings Bond Sales (Posted December 22, 2011)

Per the Bureau of Public Debt, effective January 1st, 2012 financial institutions will no longer be able to process/sell savings bond orders. WECU will still redeem paper savings bonds but all orders must be placed at savingsbonds.gov (linked below).

Better Business Bureau Fraudulent Email (Posted November 25, 2011)

BBB of Utah is warning businesses and consumers regarding an email which is made to appear as if it was sent by BBB of Utah. This email contains an attachment regarding a complaint. The email is a fake. Please do not open any attachments and disregard this email. The email is fraudulent and does not originate from BBB. The email attachment may contain malicious content and should be deleted from your computer immediately.

Please note that BBB does not send complaints as attachments via email and strongly advises you to be careful when opening attachments even if you know the sender. The BBB is working diligently to shut down the malicious activity and will continue to do so until the threat is contained.

Blocked Countries (Posted October 17, 2011)

The following countries are currently blocked due to US foreign policy sanctions through Visa Inc. for U.S. Member-related transactions: Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Myanmar (Burma).

WECU® Card Services is unable to unblock these countries for member transactions.
